"If you say cute, that's definitely an idol"

This is the interview where the adorable Uemu looks for what “cute” is! First, speaking of "cute", what is it about?

Uemura: Of course, definitely an idol. Even as a fellow girl, looking at them makes me want to protect them.

If you would name someone, who is it?

Uemura: I've always loved Saito Asuka-san. From when Nogizaka was formed, before I realize, I have fallen for her. Until now, I always search for "Saito Asuka" everyday and my lock screen and home screen background are always Asuka-san.

Have you ever talk to her?

Uemura: When we passed by each other, I just greet her. But even if there is an opportunity to talk to her, I'll just get nervous so seeing her on TV is enough for me. *laughs*

Please tell me your favorite cute things.

Uemura: I adore clothes shops and like adorned clothes. All of my clothes are hung using the same hanger and arranged in order from white to black such that there is gradation. It's fun to decorate my room.

Is your room cute too?

Uemura: Well, there's a white princess like bed. The curtain is light pink. There are only white and pink things. *laughs* I have a fluffy white rug to sit on while I watch AKBINGO, Nogichuu or videos of concerts. Perhaps the time I like the most is watching idols on TV.

During RoK 2019 that was held last July, were there any cute moments?

Uemura: For the first time, we performed Bathroom Travel with all members. There is a choreography where you'll feel sleepy and rub your eyes. There was a time when Techi appeared in the monitor while doing it. The members sent me a 2 second video with a message saying "Look at this". After I saw it, I thought it was very cute.

Who sent the video to you?

Uemura: It was Fuu-chan. On the third day of the performance, she told me, "Isn't this great?" *laughs* I wasn't given that choreography so I thought "She was really doing it". While everyone has their eyes opened, she was doing it properly, closing her eyes and pretending to be sleeping. It was very cute *laughs*

Do you think yourself as cute?

Uemura: I don't think so! Am I!?.. But during handshake events, some fans would say "I like you" while having other member's goods hanging on them. I told makeup artist that "they probably won't trust their partner in the future". Afterwards, I was told that "you're too pure"

That's really cute. Do you believe in people's words easily?

Uemura: Yes, I tend to believe easily. However, since the 2nd gens entered, I can’t help but to wonder if some fans will move on to the new members.

What do you think about 2nd gens?

Uemura: They're very cute! Takemoto Yui, Tamura Hono and Morita Hikaru came to work around the end of last year. These 3 seemed to be big fans. When I asked something short like "Have you gotten used to Tokyo?" They cried right away.
