Keyakizaka46's Habu Mizuho x Hinatazaka46's Kanemura Miku interview from BLT August 2020

Interviewer: The two of you played Animal Crossing: New Horizons together during your time at home, didn't you? Can you tell us any stories about that or anything else that you'd like to share? We'd be happy to hear about what you've been up to recently, or you can expand on it in various ways, too.

Habu: Of course! That's right. I heard that Miku-chan was playing Animal Crossing. Then I thought it would be a good idea to play together, so I tried contacting her.

Kanemura: I was so happy when I was contacted, but it feels like it was so long ago...

Habu: Yes, it was about two months ago already?

Kanemura: Are you still playing Animal Crossing, Habu-san?

Habu: I'm still playing. But now that I've completed the whole island, I reset everything and started over.

Kanemura: Oh, really? Did you tear down that very fancy bathroom too?!

Habu: Yeah, I tore down everything (laughs). It's going to take a lot of time to get it up to that level again.

Kanemura: You're right. It’s because it was amazing.

Habu: When I went to visit Miku-chan's island in the game, I saw how stylish it was, and I thought it was really nice. I’m learning from that and imitating it a bit.

Kanemura: Wow, I’m too happy! Do you have a new island theme, or is there any kind of new concept?

Habu: Theme? I wonder. There wasn't a lot of nature before, so I want to plant a lot of fruit trees and make it look more like a forest. What about Miku-chan's island? Has the appearance of your island changed since then?

Kanemura: My island? Not much has changed. I don't have the courage to remake it like Habu-san did...

Habu: Right, it was a very nice island, so it would be a shame to remake it.

Kanemura: No, not at all. But I want to play while connected with Habu-san again!

Habu: Of course! I'd like to play with Nibu-chan (Akari) again too. I'd like to connect with the members of Hinata-chans (zaka 46), too.

Kanemura: That would be great! Quite a few Hinata members also have Animal Crossing.

Habu: Is everyone playing Animal Crossing?

Kanemura: More than half of the members have it, but I don't know if they're still playing it. I also want to play "Fortnite" with Habu-san.

Habu: Oh, I want to play "Fortnite"! But doesn’t it seem difficult?

Kanemura: That's true, it does require a bit of skill, but I get the impression that Habu-san would be good at it.

Habu: I'm not very good at that. People often tell me that I seem like I would be good at it, but in reality, I get knocked down easily (laughs).

Kanemura: Oh, really?! That’s definitely not the kind of image I have of you (laughs).

Habu: I think I prefer to play more friendly types of games where everyone communicates with each other.

Kanemura: It's nice to have a peaceful feeling (laughs). Right now I’m also thinking of wanting to enrich the time I spend when I'm not playing games.

Habu: Wow! Is there something you'd like to try, Miku-chan?

Kanemura: I've dabbled in a lot of things, but I’m still not quite good at any of them yet.

Habu: I see. But you were able to try something new during your stay at home period, weren’t you?

Kanemura: Yes, I've tried a whole range of things that I was interested in. Also, for me, I really admire Habu-san's fashion. I'd like to know how to become as stylish as you are.

Habu: Eh, I'm glad! When the circumstances calm down, I'd love to go shopping with you. And I'd also like to go for sushi, sushi.

Kanemura: Sushi, I want to go for sure!

Habu: Let's go to those all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants (laughs). I haven't eaten out with Miku-chan yet, right? Is there any food that you dislike?

Kanemura: There is, I can't stand fresh tomatoes. How about Habu-san?

Habu: Maybe not so much for me. Except for grapefruit, I'm pretty much okay.

Kanemura: Grapefruit!?

Habu: Well, it’s not used in many dishes, so it doesn't affect me that much. (laughs). You can get raw tomatoes in a lot of dishes..

Kanemura: That's right, it's in salads and so on... What do you like on the other hand?

Habu: Me? I like sushi, grilled meat and...all the classic foods.Maybe something like hamburgers and omelet rice (laughs).

Kanemura: Do you cook at home?

Habu: I'm trying to make it, but it just doesn't taste good at all (laughs). I'm in the middle of studying cooking. How about you, Miku-chan? Are you good at cooking?

Kanemura: I'm not very good at it at all. I've been depending on my mother. So I want to improve my cooking skills little by little to make myself more feminine.

Habu: You have to learn from your mother, right (laughs)? But I have an image that many of the members of Hinata-chan are good at cooking.

Kanemura: Yes, Miipan-san (Sasaki Mirei) bakes cookies and brings them to us.

Habu: That’s great! So sweet of her. For Valentine's Day and such?

Kanemura: That's right. Many of the members had handmade things for Valentine's Day. I tried baking cookies, but they turned out really hard (laughs). I thought the cookies were so hard that my teeth would break.

Habu: Oh, what do you put in there to make it so hard? Did you follow a recipe?

Kanemura: I did, but for some reason it became really hard. We had a recording session for a TV show, so I brought some as a gift, but everyone looked like they were eating a hard cookie. But when they told me that it was delicious, on the contrary I regretted that I made them feel like they had to worry about me.

Habu: Well, it's the thought that counts!

Kanemura: Yes, I put my feelings into it. (laughs)

Habu: But it's nice to cook. I want to be able to cook. The next time we have a cooking project on a TV show, I want to casually show that “I can do it.”(laughs)

Kanemura: I know, you want to do it casually. But we’ve had to do remote-recording for a while, haven’t we.

Habu: Yes, for the whole self-restraint period.

Kanemura: Didn't you feel a different kind of nervousness, like it was difficult to talk to people remotely, like you were worried that the timing might be off?

Habu: Oh, I understand. But if I’m out of sync, it would be more interesting for the show. Also, the screen becomes a bit small when the signal gets bad, it’s interesting because everything is remote.

Kanemura: I see, so you can think of it that way! But I can't wait to meet the members as well. Also, it's my personal dream to do a show with Keyakizaka one day!

Habu: That's a great idea! I hope we can make it happen.

Kanemura: I still have a lot of feelings for the Kanji Keyaki vs. the Hiragana Keyaki Athletic Meet in “Keyakitte, Kakenai”.

Habu: It's been a long time! How long was it ago?

Kanemura: It was right after we (Hinatazaka46 2nd Gen) had joined the show. It was the second time we joined the recording, and we had only just begun to meet with the (Hinatazaka46’s) First Generation Members. But, I've always wanted to do a location shoot with everyone in Keyakizaka again.

Habu: I see, that was so long ago. I watched the episode where Miku-chan said "Hatsu Gatsuo" in a very sexy way. I saw that part (laughs).

Kanemura: I'd like to have that kind of contest with Keyakizaka-san and Hinata too. (laughs)

Habu: I don't have a single sexy aspect in me (laughs). But Miku-chan is able to say it very easily. It's good, very good.

Kanemura: I'm so happy to hear you say that, Habu-san! I am a very nervous person, you know.

Habu: Really? You don't look like one.

Kanemura: Not really, I’m quite nervous even now. But I'm sure Habu-san will be receptive to what I have to say, so I am able to talk to you naturally.

Habu: Oh, I'm glad to hear you say that, too. (laughs)

Interviewer: Come to think of it, I heard that Habu-san has started taking pictures with a SLR camera. Since Kanemura-san is also a camera girl, would you talk about this as well?

Habu: All right! Um, what kind of pictures do you take, Miku-chan?

Kanemura: I've been at home a lot lately, so it's been the flowers and plants in my room...

Habu: Plants, that's pretty cool.

Kanemura: The other thing I did was take photos of food. I studied various ways on how to take cute photos of doughnuts (laughs).

Habu: Oh, so "girly". I take a lot of pictures of myself.

Kanemura: Oh, with the clothes you picked?

Habu: It's not just about coordinating the clothes, but also when I’m doing activities. I’m facing the camera a lot, so I'm trying to get used to it and study how to take pictures from different angles.

Kanemura: That' s great! Um, I heard from a staff member that you always take about 100 selfies, and I was told that the best of them is carefully selected.

Habu: Oh, you know about that. Yes, I do. But it's kind of embarrassing. (laughs)

Kanemura: But I think that’s the model of an idol. That’s admirable!

Habu: No, no, it would be ideal if I could take three or so pictures with a burst shot and use them, that would be the model idol (laughs).

Kanemura: Oh, now that you mention it, that might be true (laughs). But I want to learn from Habu-san’s high level of professionalism. When I asked you about how you study looking from a third person's perspective, I respected you even more!

Habu: I have a lot of opportunities to be photographed for magazines, so I have to understand the perspective of the viewer. I thought it would be better to do that. Also, when it comes to taking selfies, it's ideal for me that there are lots of pictures that I want to post within a small number of pictures taken.

Kanemura: I don't mean to imitate Habu-san’s technique, but I'm going to try to do the same thing from now on, I think. But it's difficult to take pictures of yourself outside with an SLR camera when you're using the timer function. It’s sometimes embarrassing (laughs).

Habu: Indeed. And sometimes you simply aren’t able to fully use the functions of the camera.

Kanemura: I know! I wonder, "What's this button for?” When that happens, I look at the instructions and try to understand them.

Habu: Have you ever thought about having the cameraman teach you how to do it?

Kanemura: I do. So, when shooting for a magazine, I ask a lot of questions.

Habu: Camera and photography are so profound, aren't they?

Kanemura: I really think so. One day, I want to improve my skills so I can take pictures of the members...

Habu: I like that attitude! I wonder about me. I want to take pictures of different landscapes. I know it's hard to travel right now because of the circumstances, but I'd love to go and take photos of them.

Kanemura: I also want to take pictures of places I've traveled to. Where do you want to go, Habu-san?

Habu: I wonder. How about Miku-chan?

Kanemura: I'd like to go to Shikoku.

Habu: It's good. The food is good, too.

Kanemura: I see you've been there. I haven't been to Shikoku yet.

Habu: Oh. Well, when I'm ready to travel, I'll take you with me.

Kanemura: Oh, really? I'm so happy!

Habu: Yeah, let's go, really. I'd love to go to Shikoku for a live show, too.

Kanemura: I want to go. We haven't performed live in Shikoku and the Chugoku region yet.

Habu: Keyaki hasn't performed in Shikoku, Hokkaido or Okinawa yet, so I'd like to go there as well.

Kanemura: I want to do a live show...Somehow I'm starting to feel sad.

Habu: Don't worry, Miku-chan is still young, so you still have a long way ahead of you!

Kanemura: Thank you. It's really cool of you to say that, Habu-san

Interviewer: Sorry to jump in. Speaking of "cool", Kanemura-san tried dressing up in men’s clothes at home during the self-restraint period, didn't you? Habu-san is also a “beauty in men’s clothes”, so why don't we talk about that?

Habu: Miku-chan, you also dressed up in men’s clothes?

Kanemura: Yes, it was the first time I tried to dress up in men’s clothes, but I ended up looking like a woman.

Habu: It's not easy. Even if you dress up your face as a man, the slender lines on your body will still give you a girly vibe. In that case, try doing a manly pose to make it less conspicuous, or try wearing a dapper, oversized clothes, and you'll be less feminine.

Kanemura: I see, I'll give it a try next time. I've been admiring cool women lately. Of course, I want to have cuteness, too...

Habu: So, what is a cool woman to you, Miku?

Kanemura: Eh!? You can feel a certain aura about them like you can feel it from their behavior and words… when it comes to actresses, someone dignified and sharp like Amami Yuki-san would be it. I feel that Habu-san has that kind of coolness, so I would be very happy to get your advice.

Habu: Hmmm...If I may say so, it's cool if you have confidence in yourself, whether you're a woman or a man. I think that confidence comes from accumulated experiences. Moreover, I think that our appearance shows our inner self, so I guess we have to improve our interpersonal skills. The important thing is what's inside, right?

Kanemura: Oh, I knew you were cool, Habu-san! I admire you all the more.

Habu: Thanks. Next time, let's do a collaboration in real life, not remotely!

Kanemura: Yes, I would appreciate it!
